The end of 2025.
A thank you to my readers and subscribers.
So we find ourselves at the end of the year! I don’t know about you, but it seems to have gone rather fast.
I thought that a quick thank you would be the best option this week, as we are all so hectic with Christmas preparations that it’s unlikely that anyone will have the time for a long technical article. I am illustrating it with a few phone shots from yesterday when I was out with my Rollei 3.5 and my Nikon with a 20mm lens and a 28-70 zoom. As there hasn’t been time to process and print these shots, the phone approximations will have to do.
I began this Substack on the 25th of January of this year and I have written 49 technical articles so far. I have found it to be an interesting discipline to put out a written and illustrated piece every Monday evening, though my busy life has meant that they often have had to be pulled together at the last minute. I began with my most technical articles available only to paid members, but at the end of July I made the paid subscriptions an option, not a requirement and all articles are now available to everyone. I currently have 19 subscribers who pay out of the goodness of their hearts and I am extremely grateful to these generous souls. It is my intention to make a special high res image for each of these generous people which they can print off as a Giclee. I will send this out at the end of January to mark my first year on Substack. This will be a scan of an actual darkroom print (I haven’t decided which shot yet), and hopefully this should preserve the original vision and intention.
I have had many wonderful comments as the weeks have gone by and have connected with people all over the world. I now have 442 subscribers and I hope that this venture continues to grow. I’m still pretty ignorant of how this works and I don’t know how to reach new people who don’t yet know of this, so If you have enjoyed the free content and been inspired, informed or helped by anything I have written, then please let other people know about it.
I have ideas for articles in the new year, but I would be interested to know if there are any subjects or techniques that you might wish me to cover. I’m happy to take suggestions, so please let me know in the comments below.
Thank you all very much for reading my articles and for your support and kind comments. I will be taking a short break and will be back on the 5th of January. I wish you all good health, inspiration and companionship.
