Staying inspired is always a challenge. I’ve been delving into The Photographer’s Playbook (Aperture) for pearls of wisdom from the great and the good to see if they have anything helpful to me on my photographic odyssey. A thought provoking article once again with some great prints.

“The Scottish Track” literally took my breath away. Incredible, evocative, mood-laden documentary image redolent with emotional electricity.

And, I guess this qualifies as my one moment of fame on the Internet….

Thanks Russ, you are always so complimentary.

With good reason: your artwork is humble, thoroughly British and visually entrancing.

“…waste time chasing that elusive magic instead of letting it happen.” I think working is always worth it and it’s the consistency that will pay off. Don’t worry if it’s magic right now as magic has a way of accumulating.

It does. The more you do, the luckier you get.

Ain’t that the truth!

Sally Mann’s book is on my desk as I type this too. A decent accomplishment, considering that I live in Romania, and ordering a book from Penguin/W&S etc is not without risks of getting it late, if at all, through customs and such. I have barely read a few pages, but I expect to be delighted, as I was with her book Hold Still. Congrats on your beautiful photos. Happy holidays!

Thank you Crina.

Discovering new photobooks and going to photo exhibitions is what inspires me most. I always get a positive kick out of it.

I can resonate with this Andrew, not having picked up a camera since early November because of life’s demands. So I’m taking time out from the online world at Yule through to possibly the end of January to recharge my creative batteries (serendipity as I wrote about this in my post this week).

I’ve got to say that Scottish Track is simply beautiful I just keep having to go back to it, such lovely work. Wishing you all the best for the festive season.
